Washed the Touring yesterday for the first time in awhile. Forgot how nice the paint still looks for a 30 year old car. Was walking towards it today in a parking garage and the lighting was really nice.

Red is a lovely colour to work with.

Such a striking colour against the black tyre and trim surfaces.

Great car as well. My neighbour has had over a dozen BMWs over the years and had one of those in a different colour, while compact on the inside against newer cars, it doesn’t feel closed in as the greenhouse around it makes it look and feel bright and open.

It really is. The first time I detailed this car a couple of years ago it had so much oxidation on it. The paint looked faded and pinkish. It still could use some work but I’m a bit finicky when it comes to really detailing it with my orbital as it’s single stage paint. When I originally did it I did it all by hand.

It is definitely a tiny car on the inside. Rear legroom it’s very minimal, no one ever really sits back there though so it’s not an issue.

See, the thing is that before modern safety regulations came into force, auto manufacturers could get away with making giant fishbowls for greenhouses with tiny pillars so you could see just about anywhere you wanted to look on the vehicle. Blind spots were only in your rear quarters where the pillar sloped back, but those were generally small enough that only motorcycles and cars two lanes over would disappear into them.

My Legacy was one of a dying dynasty of cars with a greenhouse so easy to see out of it could almost be a terrarium for humans inside it.

Thats a lot better paint than my new project. Not sure if itll get better with major buffing or more.not looking forward to it. Though to be fair the previous owner did some home repainting after a side swipe accident. The front bumper was a red junkyard part and has a really thin coat of blue over the original. This is my first potato pic after a basic wash. The door is darker and not clear coated.
